Time Flies When You’re Watching Them Grow

“One thing that I never really understood before becoming a parent was how other parents would say ‘time flies.’” — Shared by Rachel

Before becoming a parent, time often seemed to move slowly. But after welcoming her children into the world, Rachel began to truly understand what people meant when they said, “They grow up so fast” — how quickly everyday moments can turn into precious memories.

From first steps to first words, every milestone brings joy and excitement, along with the feeling of wanting to hold on to those fleeting moments just a little longer.

Rachel shares the little moments that remind her to slow down, be present, and cherish every stage of her children’s journey as they grow.

“Before having kids, I felt like the years went by so slow. After having my babies, I wish time would just slow down! I don't know how it's possible that I have an almost 3 year-old and an almost one year-old. I can remember the day each of them were born like it was yesterday.

It's so much fun watching them learn and grow. My toddler is becoming so independent and is the biggest helper with his baby sister, and my baby girl is already pulling herself to stand and saying her first words.

I am so excited as they reach each milestone and learn new things, but a part of me wants them to stay little forever.

This is where I now understand the other parents who always said "time flies". My babies are growing up right before my eyes and there is nothing I can do about it but be present in every moment.

I have been so lucky to get to stay home with my babies, so when I say every moment, I mean EVERY moment. I have only ever left my toddler a handful of times and my baby girl 2x, for under an hour each! Crazy right?! But I wouldn't have it any other way.

With how quickly time seems to be going by, it's important to slow down, and make sure to enjoy even the hard times, because it won't be like this for long and one day you will be wishing you could hold your tiny newborn baby again.”

Every family experiences parenting in their own way. The little moments we notice, the milestones we celebrate, and the memories we create with our children all become part of the journey.

Through listening to real experiences from families, we continue to understand the many different moments that shape Everyday Parenting — the joy, growth, and everyday memories that make each family’s story unique.
